A Little Bit About Me

Me, Thrifty Mango, in Kelvin Grove in Glasgow

Hello! My name is Kirstin and welcome to this little blog of mine.

During my first year studying at Robort Gordon University in Aberdeen I decided to start this blog. I wanted to document my experiences as a journalism student and write about my interests in fashion, lifestyle and sustainability. After the COVID-19 pandemic forced us into a global lockdown I began posting on the blog as a way to cope with anxiety and boredom. As well as that, I also wanted to give people a distraction from the bleak lockdown conditions and some positivity every week while also being as authentic as possible.

I love exploring new fashion styles and incorporating them into my wardrobe. This interest blossomed after moving halfway across the country and adapting to city life. After growing up in the country, it was amazing to see the different cultures and styles you can see in the city- this awakened my interest in fashion. I strive to try as many styles as I possibly can and encourage people to express themselves through fashion.

With the current state of the planet, sustainable living is an important goal for me. Entering the zero-waste community as a beginner is intimidating so I’ve made it my mission to share my experience reducing my plastic waste on a student budget with the hopes of making the movement seem more achievable and beginner friendly.

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy my blog x
