Thrifty Mango Book Club: The Authenticity Project

While visiting home during the summer, my mum, Ryan and I went on a wee day out thrifting in Troon. It was a lovely day out, finding hidden gems in charity shops before recharging in The Poppy Room cafe. While in an Oxfam book and music shop, a certain book caught my eye. Drawn in by its bright and cheerful cover and intriguing title, I decided to buy it without much hesitation- it looked exactly like my type of book- especially for £2.50. This was well before The Thrifty Mango Book Club even existed...

books then you've watched a few of the films at least. I've wanted to revisit the books for quite some time now. I read all the books twice throughout my school years but haven't touched them since. I have an embarrassing amount of Harry Potter Merchandise, including Luna Lovegood's wand, a Hufflepuff hat and scarf set, a Gryffindor scarf, golden snitch earrings and multiple handbags. After moving to Aberdeen, I lost touch with the series due to not having a TV in my student accommodation and leaving my books at home. So, why not revisit the first book with me? Or read it for the first time?...

Proposing The Thrifty Mango Book Club

for it. Unfortunately, I'm a slow reader and find myself leaning more towards other forms of media. But I have always enjoyed the books I've read- especially in my teenage years. I remember coming home from school and running upstairs to my room to curl up on my bed with my newest read. There were days I would be immersed in a novel until the early hours of the morning. As I've mentioned in my "6 Rainy Afternoon Reads" blog post, I want to fall in love with reading again and I think I have an idea of how to do this...

6 Rainy Afternoon Reads

Who doesn't love a good book? I love lighting a scented candle, making a cup of tea and curling up to immerse myself in a page-turner. As much as I like my Kindle- which is better for the environment- I can't help but prefer physical books. I cherish the texture and smell of the pages and adore having cute bookmarks to keep track of my progress. But if you're anything like me, you struggle to find the time to read. I read plenty of articles and magazines but, books have been gathering dust on my bookshelf in recent years. However, I made a New Years Resolution that I'd read 20 novels in 2021 (not exactly a huge number but, it'll still be a challenge). So, I thought I'd try writing more posts about books to share what I have read with you all and encourage myself to read more. These are some of my favourite books, and please let me know what your favourites are in the comments or on social media...

My Lockdown Recommendations

Throughout lockdown, I've been watching, listening, reading and gaming a LOT. I've been planning to write more about entertainment since it's how I spend most of my time- especially right now. Everyone who knows me is aware that I'm a big nerd. I love losing myself in a new TV series, I know an embarrassing amount of Lord of the Rings lore and I've written a LOT of fan-fiction. So, I thought it was about time I share some of my favourite books, movies, TV shows, albums and video games with you all.
