My Lockdown Morning Routine

It's always difficult to wake up motivated and ready for work, especially during lockdown. But there are ways to wake yourself up quicker and easier and increase productivity throughout the day. I might not be the most productive person, but I enjoy finding new ways to start my day. So my morning routine is always changing, but the fundamentals stay the same. I like to appreciate my mornings- relishing every second of them and savouring them. That's the best way to enjoy your day- at least, I think so. If you start your day well- the rest of your day should go smoothly...

More Things to do in Lockdown

Last spring, we were put into lockdown for the first time. It was a time of home-haircuts, panic-buying and eating tinned food for weeks on end. This was when I properly started writing for Thrifty Mango to keep me occupied while cooped up in my flat and to spread positivity during a terrible time. Now- 10 months later- we're back to square one and more fed up than ever. So, if you're struggling for ideas for how to spend your time until the restrictions are eased, you can check out my 10 Things to Do in Self-Isolation post and find more suggestions below...

Getting my Life Together: My 2021 Self-care Routine

As some of you may know already, one of my goals for this year is to take better care of myself and make more time for me. I have a habit of overworking and exhausting myself but I want to start pacing myself by taking small breaks to keep me productive. I haven't had a consistent skin-care routine since I don't know when. I forget to use moisturiser and when I run out of something I forget to buy a replacement. However, I know that self-care improves mental health and overall well-being so I thought I should try harder. Since this is new to me, I decided to share my self-care plans with you all...

My New Year Resolutions- 2021

Normally, I disagree with people waiting until the new year to make drastic changes, I think we should all be able to start making changes to our lifestyles any time of year. However, 2020 has been a rough year for everyone so establishing new year resolutions is incredibly important for this year especially. Setting up new year goals will help bring a little structure to our lives- something we have all been lacking this year- and give you something to look forward to doing in 2021. Considering how bad 2020 has been, I think we should view 2021 as a fresh start and allow ourselves to look forward to the future. I'm aware that the majority of the year might be a bit of a "write-off" like 2020 has been so I've tried to keep these realistic under the circumstances. So without further ado, here are my new year resolutions for 2021...

My Nail-biting Transformation

For as long as I can remember I've always bitten my nails. It was something my mum and brothers always did so I developed the nasty habit too. Mainly stemming from nerves, anxiety and even boredom, I would subconsciously bite them until they started bleeding. I always felt self-conscious about the way my hands looked, I used to curl them up so you couldn't see my fingers in school photos. I pulled the sleeves of my jumpers over my hands so you couldn't see my raggedy, short nails. I never wore rings and I couldn't wear nail polish...

Trying out the Curly Girl Method

My hair can be unpredictable; On a good day my curls are luscious and defined but on a bad day my hair is a tangled mess of frizz. On those bad hair days, I have to take on the challenge of taming the frizz by wrestling my locks into knotty braids or a messy bun (and not a effortless, pretty one). When I found out about the "Curly Girl Method" it was like a glimmer of light at the end of a dark, dingy tunnel.

10 Things to do in Self-isolation

Self-isolation has been proven to be difficult but extremely vital for all of us in these strange times. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused the UK and many other countries to go into lockdown, with shops closing and police breaking up gatherings to prevent the spread of the virus. This means that many of us can't see our friends and family or socialise like we are used to. So I came up with a few ideas on how to fill time in quarantine, whether you are self-isolating alone or with other household members.
